Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. During these past seven decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball. The American Legion and their 2 million members have raised millions of dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship. The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities and to have fun. Go to Legion.org and search for “Individual stars in American Legion Baseball before the 1960s”.

For 2021 Post 492 sponsored a Team from Hoover High School. The coaches are outstanding individuals so we look forward to great game. The Post 492 baseball team name is “Panthers “. The American Legion baseball league requires support as does the Post 492 team. For the Post 492 team support donations can be mailed to  Gene Pellerin, 645 El Portal Dr. Chula Vista CA 91914. Additional  information about about the league is included on the following pages (2-7).  The Post looks forward to future competition having made it to the State Playoffs for three years in a row under the coaching of Mike Leeney. Each of the three years the team failed to qualify for the regional playoffs. We will not give up the idea of making the national playoffs so next year we will go at it again. Our view is that the young men really enjoy the commodery of playing on a team and the game of baseball.
